Winter Dance

Date: Friday, January 10 @6:30 - 8:30 p.m

Location: Burleigh Manor Middle School Cafeteria

Free and Fun event to bring your family!

NOTE: This event is open to all CLES students, and their siblings, family members & friends. However, every participating child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian (or other adult appointed by parent/guardian) who remains in the BMMS building (this is NOT a drop-off event).

PARENT/GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Parents - please consider signing up for one volunteer slot during the time you’ll be hanging around at the dance. We REALLY need more signups to help with setup, hula hoop contest, glow sticks, check-in table, bouncers and crowd control, DJ song requests, and of course someone to be Splash the Dolphin (just 30 minutes wearing the costume). Sign up here in SignUpGenius or email social@clespta.org

WHO CAN ATTEND

This event is open to all CLES students, siblings, family members & friends. Every participating child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian (or other adult designated by the parent/guardian) who remains in the BMMS building (this is NOT a drop-off event).

WHAT TO WEAR

CLES students are encouraged to wear their grade-level colors (5th Purple, 4th Blue, 3rd Green, 2nd Yellow, 1st Orange, K Red, Pre-K Black, Siblings white). Be sure to wear comfy shoes as well.

WHAT TO BRING

Share Winter Warmth! Please bring to the dance any winter food items we can donate to our local homeless shelter, including: mac-n-cheese, canned soups, stews & chilis, canned meats, pasta sauce, cup noodles, coffee & creamers, oatmeal packets, fruit cups, canned fruit, or anything you see on this list of highly-needed items at Grassroots Shelter for this month.

PARENTS’ HANGOUT

Parents - you are welcome to join in the dancing and festivities, or you can relax and socialize in the designated “Parents’ Hangout” area (which includes more sophisticated snacks, and less noise, than what you’ll find on the dance floor).

HULA HOOP CONTEST

This year we are bringing back this favorite tradition, but in a slightly different way. Students who want to participate in the contest should go to the BMMS Gym at their designated time to compete in first round hula hooping according to this schedule:

  • 7:00 p.m. Pre-K, Kindergarten, & Grade 1 Students

  • 7:10 p.m. Grade 2 students

  • 7:20 p.m. Grade 3 students

  • 7:30 p.m. Grade 4 students

  • 7:40 p.m. Grade 5 students

Then the top group of students from each grade level will compete in the FINAL ROUND on the main dance floor (BMMS cafeteria) at 8:00 p.m. to determine the winner for each grade level.

NON-DANCE ACTIVITIES

For students who don’t love dancing, but still want to socialize, the BMMS gym will have a few alternative fun activities that students can enjoy.
